Located in the scenic town of Thame, Black Goo Cafe Thame has quickly become a local favorite. This spacious hub boasts an inviting atmosphere where friendly staff greet you and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air. With cakes and pastries that could rival any bakery, the café truly excels in its offerings. Customers rave about the substantial portions, particularly the rocky road and cinnamon swirl—both satisfyingly decadent and well worth their price points.
Patrons like Fraser Chapman and Airyn Skene highlight the creativity and size of the desserts, which come in generous slabs rather than mere slices. Gluten-free options are also available, making it inclusive for all dessert lovers. Laura Ford appreciates the café's chill vibe and cleanliness, reinforcing why it’s a top pick for sweet treats. Additionally, the café’s owner demonstrates exceptional service by collaborating with couples for events, as evidenced by Eleanor Underwood's glowing review of a personalized wedding cake experience.
Whether you're in for a large breakfast, refreshing smoothies, or simply to indulge in spectacular cakes, Black Goo Cafe Thame invites you to leave your appetite at the door. It promises a hearty meal and an atmosphere that beckons you back for more.

Wow. What a find! This is a large cafe in the beautiful town of Thame. The staff are friendly, the coffee is great (5.10 with milk alternative) The cakes and slices - this is their superpower. If you like your slices, cakes and pastries you have to give this place a try The first thing you’ll notice is the size of them - you will not only need eyes bigger than your stomach, you’ll need biceps bigger than your stomach to carry them too. The slices only just fit into the cardboard boxes that you are given to take them away in The rocky road is to die for. The biscuit is nice and crunchy and they are very generous with the marshmallows and other assortments The cinnamon swirl is sweet and beautifully baked with just the right amount of cinnamon There is a slice to suit everyone’s tastes, as long as you like sweet - cooke pies, twix cakes, biscoff slices. It’s not cheap (rocky road 6.95) but they are great value when you see the size of slices They do amazing milkshakes, juices and smoothies too. And the breakfasts look fantastic - I didn’t have time to eat there this time but I‘ll be back as the great bard Arnie once said. Go along but maybe don’t eat for 12 hours before you do, you won’t go home hungry.

Great place, was passing through the town with some biker friends and stopped here for a coffee and a slice of cake, except they don't do slices of cake they appear to do slabs, a place where the term portion control has been sent unashamedly packing it's bags to make room for the giant portions a larger coeliac chap like myself has only dreamt of. They have a selection of gluten free options too, I opted for a price of gluten free white chocolate drizzle cake that was so large I wasn't abale to finish it, quiet a feat considering my appetite. All in all well worth stopping in, friendly staff, big portions good food.

Really nice place with a great selection of cakes. The place was quite nice, with a chill cafe vibe. I got the rocky road slide and it was massive enough to take home. The staff were all friendly and it was clean. Would recommend solely for their cakes!!

James at Black Goo created 4 beautiful and delicious cakes for our wedding. We worked together on the flavours and meeting all the dietary requirements with him and then he kept us in the loop as the day arrived. Our guests were raving about our cakes saying they'd never tasted anything so good! Thank you thank you thank you!

I absolutely loved my visit to Black Goo. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, with an eclectic vibe that makes it feel both cozy and cool. The brunch menu is full of great options – I had the loaded hash and it was delicious. The coffee was top-notch too – smooth, rich, and clearly made with care. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and service was quick even though the place was busy. There are plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free choices, and the cakes on display looked amazing – I’ll definitely be coming back to try one. Whether you’re after a relaxed weekend brunch or just a quality coffee and a pastry, Black Goo is a great choice. Highly recommend!
